    Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am so excited to be teaching your freshman at Santo High School this year. This will be my tenth year teaching English, and it is very important to me that I form good relationships with you as well as your child. Please feel free to come to me with questions or concerns at any time. My main goals are for your child to be comfortable in my classroom, learn to think for themselves about what they read, and learn to be confident writers as well!

Some of my classroom guidelines include:

    1) Be respectful

    2) Bring all supplies

    3) Be ready to work

    4) Be willing to learn

    2022-2023 Grading Policy:

    Six Week Grade Calculations

    Daily Work/Homework 50%

    Test Grades 50%

    Late Work Policy:

Students are encouraged to meet the assigned deadlines as determined by the teacher. Failure to meet the teacher specified deadlines would result in a 10 point deduction for each day the assignment is late for up to three (3) days. Assignments more than 3 days late will receive an automatic grade of zero (0).

    1 day late= 10 point deduction

    2 days late= 20 point deduction

    3 days late= 30 point deduction

    3+ days= Automatic Zero

    Redo Policy:

Students are encouraged to come to me about any issues they are having with classwork. Students may not redo or makeup daily assignments from a failing grade and must turn them in within three days of the due date for partial credit.

For test grades, students can come to tutorials before school from 7:40-7:55 a.m. daily or after school. Students can receive up to ½ credit back on the assignment they are retaking. For example, if a student received a 50 on a test grade, they can get up to 25 points back for their failing grade.

    After school tutorials will be held M & W: 3:40-3:55 p.m. and/or Tu & Th: 3:40- 4:20 p.m.

    Journalism/Yearbook

    Sayla Pustejovsky

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am so excited to be teaching Journalism/Yearbook at Santo High School this year. This will be my tenth year teaching, and it is very important to me that I form good relationships with you as well as your child. Please feel free to come to me with questions or concerns at any time. My main goals are for your child to be comfortable in my classroom and to learn about the art of photography and creating a yearbook at the same time.

Some of my classroom guidelines include:

    1) Be respectful

    2) Be ready to work

    3) Bring all supplies

    4) Be positive

    2022-2023 Grading Policy:

    Six Week Grade Calculations

    Daily Work/Homework 50%

    Test Grades 50%

    Late Work Policy:

    3 days late= 30 point deduction

    3+ days= Automatic Zero

    Redo Policy:

Since the majority of our work will be yearbook pages and photographs, there will be no make up work for this class. We will learn the importance of publishing deadlines through building a yearbook.

Supply list for my class will include:

    (1) Package pens/pencils

    (1) Folder to keep up with work

**Donations of Kleenex boxes are greatly appreciated!

***Please be aware that our Yearbook class comes with extra responsibilities outside of class time. Students are asked to be at extracurricular activities that they will not usually be involved in. Students will also check out equipment owned by the school, so please let me know if you have any concerns about the extra time involved. We take great pride in our yearbook and want all students involved to be able to contribute!***
