I'm entering my 14th year in education and my 1st year teaching at Santo ISD. I will be teaching Principles of Audio/Video Technology and Audio/Video Production. I also coach football, basketball, and softball. My hobbies are hunting and fishing. Excited and happy to be at Santo. Go Wildcats!

Computer Lab Rules
No food or drinks allowed (water is acceptable with a screw tight lid and on the floor or bag)
All factory settings should remain on the computer
Respect the school property (computers, desks, other electronic equipment)
Remain seated while in the lab

Remain seated during class until given permission otherwise
Course Description –This course will introduce students to careers in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communications career cluster. Students will develop an understanding of various career opportunities in this cluster and the knowledge, skills and educational requirements for those careers.
Class Objectives:
- Headphones.
- Student Goals- Identify and understand the basic theory in Audio/Video Production and Graphic Design, Video Game Design and Fashion Design.
- Understand the phases of production from brainstorming to distribution
- Understand a basic overview of each career cluster offered in Arts/AV.
- Professional Communications - Professionalism, Leadership, Conflict Management, and Building a successful Resume.
- Video Production – Film History, Basic Video Theory, Story Telling, Script Writing, Storyboarding, Typography, Composition Style, Visual Grammar, Basic Production and Editing. ● Video Game Design – Understanding basic game theory, demonstrate understanding in design process, identify game components
Grading policy – Student grades will be posted in the parent portal within 1 week of the due date (with exceptions) for daily grades and major grades. Special consideration is given to major projects, including lengthy writing assignments.
Projects/Tests=50% Class/daily work=50%
Class/Daily: 8 grades (minimum)
Projects/Tests 3 grades (minimum) per each grading category
Late Work Policy: Teacher designates due date and time for assignment (Beginning of class period, End of class period, designated time of day)
If the student fails to meet the due date and time, then the students will be assessed a penalty of 10% points each day late for up to 3 days.
Score of zero may be given for work turned in after 3 days.
Work will be accepted for an excused absence at no penalty equalling 1 day after the total number of days absent.
Test/Project Retakes
Students who fail a major test/assessment (below 70%) will be allowed to retake or correct up to a 70% grade. This does not include semester/six week examinations.
All retakes or corrections must be completed prior to the end of each six week grading period unless the student is afforded time, after the six week grading period, as a result of the district’s absent/make-up guidelines.

Course Description –Students will explore media forms such as commercials, public service announcements, movie scenes, documentaries, and music videos. Skills learned will include pre-production planning and writing, production, post production, camera techniques, equipment use, video editing and graphics, and sound editing. Additional emphasis in this course will be media literacy and digital citizenship, encouraging students to think critically to analyze current media forms as well as media industry practices.
