7th Grade students are expected to purchase their own instrument if they play flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet and trombone)
The school provides instrument for 7th grade students that play bass clarinet, tenor/baritone saxophone, F horn, baritone/euphonium and tuba.
Please contact the band director at 254-769-2835 or through email at RFriesenhahn@SantoISD.net before purchasing an instrument especially if you are planning on purchasing an instrument online. Amazon, eBay and Craigslist are all great resources to purchase instruments, but you have to be careful. There are many low quality instruments for sale on these sites and depending on the brand/quality of instrument can really dictate a student's growth because of limitations of the instrument.
We work exclusively with ALP Music in Stephenville for our supplies and instrument rentals for the 5th and 6th grade students and it is highly recommended that you check with ALP Music before seeking other sources regarding an instrument purchase. If an instrument is purchased through ALP Music, you can rest assured in most cases, it will be an instrument that will carry the student through their entire musical journey at Santo ISD.
